Dwight defies summation as he and the crew explore a variety of topics.

Dwight Slade (@DwightSlade) is a stand up comedian and Seattle native.  He has been performing since his teens and was a middle school friend of Bill Hicks, forming a lasting comedy partnership.  Aside from performing comedy across the country, Dwight had a daughter who often finds herself in her father’s routine, along with a less-mocked second child.  He also was a radio personality in the 90s and has appeared in many festivals and specials.

Upcoming Guests and holiday schedule

Posted by Andy - December 10, 2012 - News
2

For the next several weeks there will be little to no forewarning of who we’ll be having on.  Our schedule is messed up trying to work around the Christmas season and I’d rather post nothing than be wrong a lot and have to correct myself at the last minute.

We will be posting episodes all Christmas and New Years weeks, with our regular schedule.  The only exceptions are Christmas and New Years days themselves.

As always, remember to follow @TBarnardPodcast for posting info and check out http://www.facebook.com/TomBarnardPodcast for more…stuff.

#81 Kent Hrbek and Tim Laudner

December 5, 2012
0

Former World Series-winning Twins players Tim Laudner and Kent Hrbek came into the studio with a return visit from Diamond Dallas Page.

After playing baseball for Park Center High School in Brooklyn Park, MN, Laudner was drafted in 1976 by the Cincinnati Reds in the 33rd round, but did not sign. After four years at the University of Missouri, Laudner was drafted by the Twins in the 3rd round of the 1979 draft. Assigned directly to the AA Orlando Twins, Laudner would hold his own in his first season in the Twins’ organization, hitting .241 in 45 games. The following year, he would split his time between Orlando and Single-A Visalia and despite a .227 batting average he would hit 12 home runs for the season. Back at Orlando in 1981, he would put up a monster season, hitting 40 home runs while hitting .284 and earning an August call-up with Twins where he would hit 2 more homeruns in 14 games. Despite spending 20 games in 1982 at AAA Toledo, Laudner would be called up to the Twins for good.

Kent Allen Hrbek, nicknamed Herbie, is a former American Major League Baseball first baseman. He played his entire 14-year baseball career for the Minnesota Twins (1981–1994). Hrbek batted left-handed and threw right-handed. He hit the first home run in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome on April 3, 1982 in an exhibition game against the Phillies.  Fans knew Hrbek as an outstanding defensive player, perennial slugger, and charismatic hometown favorite. He attended Kennedy High School in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Listening Tips

1. When listening to the live show if you have a WiFi signal and are in one location the whole time you listen, you should not have any stoppages.

2. When listening to a recorded podcast, download the show first and then click play. If you attempt to download the show while driving, your phone will attempt to go from 4G to 3G to WiFi, which causes interruptions.
