Tom Barnard was born and raised on the north side of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up with six brothers and sisters and was raised almost entirely by his mother. Tom has been in radio since 1971 and has been one of the most popular morning show hosts in America since 1986 on 92 KQRS. In 2006 Tom won the Marconi Award for Large Market Personality of the Year, (recognizes excellence in radio broadcasting). Tom made great connections in the music biz while working for Capitol records, and was one of the top five voice-over talents in the U.S. (clients were: Gatorade, Nike, McDonald's and Home Depot and more). Tom is known mostly for his sense of humor and candor on almost any subject. Tom has had the opportunity to interview some of the top celebrities in the U.S. and around the world because of his high ratings, and because Tom is known for asking great questions. Don Shelby is a 50-year career journalist. He is considered the most honored local anchor in the country. He has won three National Emmys, the National Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Professional Journalists and is a two time winner of the Pulitzer Prize of broadcasting, the George Foster Peabody. He is an outdoorsman, a survival instructor, mountain and ice-climber and solo canoeist. He is a member of the Climate Science Rapid Response Roundtable and a veteran reporter on the environment. He joined the Tom Barnard Podcast team after a 30 friendship with Barnard. Often cast as opposites, Tom and Don have great respect for each other. The podcast also gives Don a chance to use the colorful language he was never allowed to use on the air.
Kathryn is currently a Real Estate pro with Coldwell Banker Burnet in Minneapolis at the highly successful Minneapolis Lakes office. Kathryn is a graduate of St. Catherine in St. Paul and also received a broadcasting certificate at Brown College in Minneapolis. Kathryn worked as a producer, writer and voice over talent for Tom's morning show back in 1986. Tom says that Kathryn is the most hilarious person he knows.
Sean Barnard is the General Manager of the Tom Barnard Show. Sean grew up acting, and started his radio career doing comedic bits on a radio station in Arizona. Sean went to Brown College in Minneapolis for broadcasting and spent 20 years in radio. The first five were on-air and then he switched to the dark side and got into radio sales, which led him to digital sales management and consulting. Sean has spoken locally, regionally and nationally about digital business development with radio and television. Currently Sean runs a company called FAN+1 with his business partner, John Cosgrove. They build custom mobile websites for sporting events, concerts, festivals, and more. Sean trained and performed at Stevie Rays and Brave New Workshop Improvisation Comedy theaters in the Twin Cities. Sean set up the podcast, and has worked with Tom and Tony to create the show. Alexandra, (Alex) got her BA in Fashion Merchandising with a Minor in Dance and Journalism from the University of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN. She Interns at Herlife Magazine and Alex interned at Story Worldwide in Manhattan in the Summer of 2011. Her dream job is to style clothing for photo shoots and/or become a fashion editor. Alex inherited her wit and wisdom from her mom and dad.
Andy is currently working on a degree in Real Estate. He hopes to be a novelist someday. Andy enjoys playing video games, Netflix, technology, has a love for pets and has learned way too much on Wikipedia. Andy is Tom & Kathryn's son and resides in St. Paul.
Bella was adopted from the Humane Society over a year ago by Alex and Andy to keep them company at their home they share. She is half yorkie and half rat terrier. She weighs a whole 9 pounds. She is very well behaved but is also as weird as can be. Her dreams include swimming in every lake in the state of Minnesota and destroying the entire fly population.
