Thank you so much for everything you have helped bring to light on both of your shows in regards to the Nursing strike at Allina Health facilities. I am an RN who was on strike for the six weeks plus the week in June and I can’t tell you how frustrating it has been seeing article after article in the star trib and short stories on other news stations that essentially just provided the Allina side of everything or would say the minimum of what is going on and not the shady dealings that were occurring on the side of the company. By that I mean certain tactics used, explanations of why they were making cuts that were not lining up with their actions – simple things such as saying “We need to cut your health care in order to save $10 million per year” and then making another statement a week into the strike stating “we have enough money to make this strike last 200 days, we know how to be responsible and prepare” – ok, that would be about $570 million, which if not used to pay for the strike would pay for our healthcare for 57 years. None of these things were coming to the forefront and it became apparent when often at the same time on other radio channels, news stations, and newspapers I would see Allina advertisements as well, that these media corporations are probably telling their journalists – “Don’t report negatively on Allina, we can’t lose a big advertiser like them”. It is just sad and makes me feel very defeated in this country that this type of behavior is just “normal operating procedure” these days. The corruption, the collusion, the filthy media, it often feels like there is little or no hope.
Your highlight spots on both the KQ morning show (which I have enjoyed since I was a little kid) and your podcast have been uplifting and helpful for many of us and hopefully enlightening to the public. I thank you very much sir. I will be indebted to you for that favor – if you ever need electrical work, glass art, handspun yarn, or great nursing care, email me, I’ll help you out.
